Quote of the Day: Publilius Syrus

Quote of the Day: "Each day is the scholar of yesterday." - Publilius Syrus

Each day is an opportunity to learn. Reaping what we sow. If we are wanting to enjoy the reaping then we most definitely need to make sure we do not forget to sow.

The seeds we plant bare fruit only if we plant them.

What seeds are you planting? How's the soil? Are those seedlings going to get the right amount of light?

We might not be able to control whether a seed, once planted, will grow. But we can make sure that seed has the best possible conditions before it's planted.

It take some work. But its worth it.

Spiritual narcolepsy?

Spiritual narcolepsy?

Quote of the Day: "Men can starve from a lack of self-realization as much as they can from a lack of bread." - Richard Wright

It really is an interesting thing. To be so oblivious for so long. Like being waking up and not remembering ever going to sleep.

Spiritual narcolepsy? It's a term that I think is pretty appropriate.

Spirituality to me means be 100% comfortable being exactly who I am. Not wishing I was anything more and not pretending like I am anything less.

Now thats self-realization.

Quote of the Day

"To advise is not to compel." - Anton Chekhov

Quote of the Day:

"To advise is not to compel." - Anton Chekhov
It's a strange thing when it comes to advising. I know, personally, that when someone tries to bring about (something) by the use of force or pressure I have a tendency to go against what ever force or pressure may be.

Even when I try to bring about something from with in myself,
by the use of force or pressure, I'm likely to subconsciously fight against it too.

Like trying to push a square peg that's just a bit too big through a round hole that's just a bit too small.

Or a key in a lock that doesn't quite match up.

So in my opinion, when giving advise, it's best to ask questions. Find out peoples goals. #Listen. Help them find the right key that unlocks the door to their goals. Help by giving them the sand paper that rounds out the edges of their square peg

Quote of the day

"You will never win if you never begin." - Helen Rowland

What does winning look like to you?

Everyone has their own idea about what it takes to win. Sometimes it's a team effort. Sometimes it's a personal effort. But none of it matters if you don't get out there and try. "What if" never makes it to the arena.

I was talking to a friend yesterday and I told her a saying that I heard quite some time ago. "I might not be able to think myself into good action. But I might be able to act myself into good thinking." Just now I was thinking about a talk by TD Jakes where he goes on and on about how the battle is not in our checkbooks and not in a saving accounts or at work or with out relationships but how the battle is in our mind.

It always make me think about how important meditation has been for me over the last few years. I feel like a lot of people want to become good at meditation so that they can have better control over their mind. Which isn't a bad thing to want. But the idea of having better control over ones mind is an idea created by the mind right? So I am not so sure what the right thing to do is. I just know that when I am meditating I like to get to a point where I feel like I am making my breath happen while at the same time feeling like the breath is happening to me. A perfect balance. That space between where nothing is being controlled and where everything just "is"

It's ok to pull over.

Sometimes it's ok to pull over.

Sometimes we have to check our tire pressure.

Sometimes we have to make sure to check the oil.

Sometimes we have to take great care so that what is behind us doesn't come crashing into where we are at right now.

But we always have to keep moving forward. Our focus is what is important. Like a 📷 we don't have to ignore the big picture. But we definitely can focus in on the things we want and the things that will improve the lifes of the people around us.

"Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough."

-Og Mandino

It is easy enough to stand still.

It is easy enough to stand still. Balancing on one foot is simple. But think about doing that while moving? To some extent that's just as simple. Finding that center of gravity isn't all that difficult.

I think about how we phrases like

"If what it takes to be successful were easy, everyone would be doing it."

And I call bullshit.

"WHY isn't everyone doing it if it's so easy Dawayne?"

Because, it's just as "EASY" not to do it.
